Posting the same article to multiple sites

What do you think of posting the same article to various sites? Will it be considered as duplicate content?

How do you usually post your articles?

I have seen the same article on different places but not sure that it's safe and useful to follow this tactics.

Yes, they are duped out (eventually).

I usually get 3 articles written on the same topic. Put 2 on my favorite article sites, and put a 3rd out to a generic one like goarticles where every tom/dick/harry can download it.

I try to make them more than slightly different. Different takes on a topic. Different ideas, etc. Not just the same thing rehashed and reorganized.

Encourage publishers to do "Article Wrapping" and avoid the worry about duplicate articles. You can download this report I thought was clever... I've never met the author but I recommend this to anyone who submits articles.

I'm still not sure how this duplicate content penalty is supposed to work. I'm planning to only use article submission to build backlinks and traffic, not to include the actual article on my site.

If I submit an article and it gets picked up by 100 other sites, shouldn't the dupe content penalty only apply to those 100 sites, not to my site? They're the ones who are using a duplicated article, not me. Is this how it works or am I missing something?

To the best of my knowledge you have it exactly RIGHT, gobulldogs.

You're not going to get penalized for a ton of people picking up "your" article. You're going to reap the links and traffic. DO NOT post the articles on your site though. Just let everyone else take them.

    Best of luck,
    Conrad

    Hi Lorien,

Could you elaborate on that a bit. I've just started experimenting with the whole article submission thing a couple of days ago and the only one I have submitted to that currently has the article on-line is goarticles.com. I thought every T, D & H could download from any of them. Whats the difference with the others and which would you recommend?
