Posting RSS to twitter stops working

Using tools like twitterfeed and now hootsuite, I find that RSS feeds tend to stop updating for apparently no reason at all. I have a couple RSS feeds set up in hootsuite to auto-post to twitter, and it's not working reliably.

What's funny is some of the feeds that are no longer working, are really legitimate RSS feeds for unique content from good & large websites (e.g. lots of visitors, good repuation) and feeding to the site's "official" twitter accounts. And some of the RSS feeds that keep working are actually pretty darn spammy, like Google Alerts news feeds.

So it almost seems random, I'm not sure it's any "penalty" from twitter otherwise they would kill the spammy feeds first. Just the technology ain't workin' like it should. No issues with the rss feeds or url themselves, so I wonder if it's a hootsuite bug or something.

    Anyone else have this problem?

    thanks!

Here's the deal with this in case anyone else has the same issue...Evidently ol' twitter.com is not a fan of autopilot accounts. If you don't log in, and/or post from web on occasion, they will eventually stop posting your feeds from api or api partners.

But if you are a good Twittizen for a while -- log in, tweet from web, etc -- you'll get back in their good graces and your feeds will resume after a couple days or weeks or so - may vary depending on the spamminess and absentee landlord levels.

Who would want to be spammed on twitter via RSS feeds? If I were following someone who was spamming me with autofeed RSS tweets I would unfollow them so fast I would take twitter down. It's people doing crap like this that will eventually be the death of twitter.
