Posting other peoples content

There is not enough time to post as much as I need to on my blog so I am considering posting other peoples articles (creating links back to their web sites) in addition to posting my own content which makes up most of the blog. Are there any problems with doing this?

No, no problem here at all. Other bloggers are doing their job providing content for some other lazy people just to have them copy that and post it again on their blog.
Bloggers don´t want to be found on search engines and therefore give their content away for free to even more people copying it, because they don´t have enough time to write their own. Google loves to see hundreds of sites providing the exact same content.

So, go ahead and start stealing other peoples work - and you will make many, many new friends.:p

It is always best to post unique articles.

If you want to post articles written by other people, I would suggest getting their permission to do so first.

If you use Wordpress then you can use These plugins

    FeedWordpress (Googleit)
    WP-omatic
and one plugin by Elliot back (Googleit)

If you dont want to have these then you should install RSS-Blog installer
It will create a splog and your site will be posting other sites articles which will result in PR degradation of your site. So Be Careful

I don't really see any problem there. Once you add in your own opinion, it is more or less something unique to you already.

So adding a few sentences in an article makes it unique and your own?

It depends on what kind of content you are trying to do. If it's a piece of tech news, I normally add in my opinion, change some sentences and throw in extra information that I know. You will more or less get something unique.

Well, I've written about other blogger's posts...quoted a sentence or two, and stated my opinion on it. I don't consider that theft.

But what I really dislike is when I get trackbacks from autoblogs (as well as manual blogs) stealing my title and posting half of my original content on their site. The linkback is nice, but it's rather useless when the main part of the article is already on their blog.

If you can't write your own content, and are looking to copy. Atleast ask for their permission first. If they decline, then try writing your own stuff.

If you cant? Then why do you have a blog!?

It's like wanting to be a taxi driver, but you have no car and are no good at driving anyway.

Re: "Are there any problems with doing this?"
As others have said if you have permission from the author it's OK.

You could always grab some content from places like EzineArticles. Many authors post there in hopes of having other webmasters use their article and provide a link back to their website.

I think alot of people do this using articles from article factories, and keeping the bylines in place, however I do think that you might want to look into how using duplicate content will affect your site.

You need permission from the author, regardless if you link to them.

Yes there are problems with it. It's illegal. Crediting the source doesn't make it legal. Simply put, you can't just post someone else's content. At best, you could post a short snippet / quote, credit it, and add you own commentary on the subject.

post a snippet, with link back

better would be to aggregate multiple posts on same topic and posts snippets from each, along with unique text.

use rewriter plugin that costs $9 to get unique content

Even engadget uses other people's content but do claim him the actual source...do not use splog tools but quote some of their articles and provide link backs..

That still doesn't make it legal, and no one cares what someone else does... it doesn't make it legal, and it doesn't mean that you'd get away with it. If you don't own the copyright or have the copyright holder's permission, you're not allowed to make derivative works (rewritten works from that source). If you cited a snippet while writing a completely unique article, that's completely different. Frankly, if you can't come up with any unique content (either by writing it or having the budget to pay for it), you shouldn't be in the content business.

Posting a summary of other's content would be acceptable. Even if you place the link of the original article, some authors do not agree with it.

Copying the entire post of another is copyright infringement, and the consequences under United States copyright law can be serious, even if the copying didn't cause much trouble to the original author. For more information, see www.minnesotalaw.tv/can-i-copy-another-bloggers-text/.
