    You can get some good backlinks, I see no reason why Google would devalue them. At least you'll get some traffic so long as you target the right demographic.

    I heard of one guy getting almost all the traffic for his forum with his own non spam forum sigs at other forums.

    forum posting is good way to bring some traffic, but blog spot will get you backlinks too. so ya it help a lot.

    Posting on forums or blogs is a good way to increase your traffic. The traffic will not be so great but it's free. Who can say no to some hits? Of course you must avoid spam...

    posting in forum consider as a backlink as well. but not that much influence if the site not realted to your site's genre.
