Posting in link directories will increase website traffic or rank?

    Spread your links on web link directories will be great, but do it slowly..
    Because if your site/blog is new, and then suddenly have many backlinks, google doesn't like that
    Try to build your backlinks naturaly and slowly (but not to slow of course :) )

    Might be helpful, but cannot be harmful..Otherwise, everyone will go on a rampage to post their competitor's sites to dirty web directories...

    But in my opinion, unless the directory offers something of value other than links, it will not be weighed in properly..That is why article directories and ask&answer websites are more valuable..
