Ultimately, you want to get your links via signatures, ads, postings, whatever, to the forums you are participating in. Like I said in my introduction, I am somewhat to using forums on a regular basis and today I have spent a lot of time reading in this one. I have a question about links and forums. I have seen people talking about good forums versus bad forums. Someone will say it doesn't matter what kind of forum it is, others disagree and say there are places you don't want your links. So this is my question. In very simple words please, how can you tell what is a "good forum" or a "bad forum?" I realized that if your subject is on raising dogs you don't post things about heartburn, although you may have heartburn while raising dogs, *smile*, but overall, what kind of forums would you want to avoid, if any. Thanks. Joyce aka Nana
I wouldn't waste time posting in forums that don't have educated members or a good admin as they will most likely go under within a years time.
Well, I would say that was pretty simple and to the point. FlightCenter that seems like really good advise. I would like a little more input if anyone else has something to say. Thanks. Joyce aka Nana
Good forums are carefully moderated, Bad forums are sometimes never moderated at all Good forums have limited number of links, Bad forums can contain lot of spammy links like pharmacy, adult , casino, gambling etc. PHPPB links are more spammy as I found from my experience,Vbulletin forums are still a little bit less spammy .
well I don't really care about good and bad forum, I only put my backlink on related topic of forum with my website's niche.
A good forum is the one that has good PR and the one that has many pages indexed in google. A bad forum is the one that is being spammed by link bombs.
Well, for me the good and the bad forum depends on: 1. Relevancy to my site. 2. Page rank 3. Number of active users. 4. Do-follow/no-follow signature 5. Quality of threads.
forums are mainly intended for discussions. if you do wanna post just for backlinks you may wanna pick the ones relevant to your niche.
i usually look at the quality of the posts. if in a thread i find a mix-up of answers not relevant to the topic, than it's bad moderated, so bad forum.
I would avoid forums that have had no new posts since about 1 week. (meaning it should be an active forum) Also, I would look for forums that have atleast some moderate number of members/posts (meaning the forum should be at least moderately busy, but it doesn't necessarily have to be all that busy and crazy like DP). It's always good to be positive if you don't agree with someone, no need to get personal and no name calling. Also, some forums are not a great place to hang out in, unfortunately there is a huge forum called warrior forum, that you may be aware of, its in the IM niche, and although its a great forum, its being considered over the last 6 months or so it's getting quite negative, there will be people that will be nasty to one another. That's not how a good forum should operate. So its always good to be positive.
