Posting for the sake of it

    I decided to write this thread, mostly out of frustration, about the number of irrelevant, useless, and detached posts that I see so often not only in DP but other forums that I use.

    Posting for the sake of building your post count or for getting more back links is doing you more harm then good and if you post in a thread and you just repeat what thirty other people have already said, and you'll have just dumped any credibility you may have earned into the toilet.

    If you used your brain you would realise that if you could actually take the time to provide useful and insightful information, DP will actually generate a lot of traffic to your site. If you posting for the sake of posting then clearly that's what you want - more traffic. So think about your tactics or you'll just be shooting yourself in the foot.

    To give an example. Today a thread was started with a title that focused on the importance of of page title. Reading the post though you quickly realised that regardless of the importance or lack of it that the person was looking for ways to convince management to allow him to add custom page titles. This post was asking for help on how to build a business case to make a system wide change. 99% of posters simply answered that page title is important to SEO. So what use is that to the OP seeing the same reply 20 times? It's about as useful as teats on a bull.

    Quote of the day:
    A wise man speaks because he has something to say. A fool speaks to say something.

    Do you want to be known as the fool or the wise man? If you're posting for the sake of post count, back links, or just to say something you'll earn about as much credibility as Charles Manson at a Right to Life convention.

    Wake up!

    </end rant here>
