    Hello,
Thanks for reading my post.. I went to ezine articles.com and found some great articles relating to my site and posted them on my site.. Will the posting of such ezines that are not my original content hurt my site in any way. Any input would be great Thanks again for your help John

Opinions are varied on the issue...

if you search for free articles on google, you'll find thousands of sites with dup content, but they are all still listed in google...

The best would of course be original content written by you, but if that is not possible and you lack the funds to have someone else write up some articles for you then re-publishing might be the way for you to go.

The problem is that the 'rules' and 'algos' may change regarding this and if they do before you can remove and replace dup articles you may suffer a loss in ranking. As for right now, the sites who re-publish good articles that match their site's content are not penalized unless they offer little or no other unique content to support those articles (or Adsense only sites).

RSS feeds are another way to provide good article content...I would recommend looking into that instead of the ezine articles. Using RSS you should not have to update the articles (they should update on their own with little or no hand work by you).

I think there was just a post here at DP on RSS feeds for content

There is clearly a double standard being applied to all this by Google and other search engines. If they are going to penalize people for using material from free article sites, they ought to penalize newspaper websites for all running the same AP and/or Reuters articles.

You really notice the problem when you use Google news and ask or search results to be date ordered. There are so many duplicate articles as to sometimes make it pointless.

I hardly ever encounter this problem in the regular search section of Google.

Obviously, the fact newspaper include "some" local content allows them to get away with it without being penalized for having duplicate content. This suggests sites using any syndicated content -- which is what free sites are offering -- need to take the time to write some of their own content.

I run websites mixed with free content and my own (50/50) and have no problems with SE ranking or traffic on those sites. I think in general it depends on the mix of how much unique content is on a website.

Yeah and if you can write a comment on the article above it on the page and below it ... changes the way they are looked at

Great Idea I think with the Ezines you have to publish the full article without any change but I guess if I add a liitle comment after the article that might work also ...thanks

I wish I would have saved the article (I'm pretty sure it was by Google's Matt Cutts), that said Google does not have a duplicate content filter, nor will you get penalized for duplicate content. The only possible problem could be the author of the article, if it is copyrighted, so be sure the articles you use are under Creative Commons or in the Public Domain.

There is so much good content out there that just posting someone elses articles seems crazy. Do a little comparative research and come up with something that makes the reader glad he took the time and might read you again. Not to mentionyou can check your facts. You'll be surprised how much fluff people insert in their articles just to get wordcount. Try to give something of value, a recent statistic, special information or advice.

IMO it won't hurt or help your site in the eyes of Google. Although it may encourage your visitors to click the link in the EZA resource box.
