It depends. If your blog post is actually of value, and worth reading, then posting it to social bookmarking sites can drive extra traffic.
well, it does have a positive impact if you use dofollow SB sites. it's a useful strategy to get deeplinks for a site and I use it often. there are lot of lists around for dofollow SB sites.
It does help especially on dofollow bookmarking sites because you'll be getting backlinks to your site.
it will quickly get your post indexed and will get you some backlinks as well. but if you post on a regular basis and keep submititng blog posts from the same site to the same bookmarking sites, then the SB sites might consider that as spam at certain point
It is useful and help our new post to get backlinks and indexed faster in search engines. The only problem is excessively submitting our own post can get our account blocked. Stumbleupon are good in doing this. Always keep some extra social bookmarks if you want to do this. I am getting good amount of traffic from social bookmarks each day too.
Make sure that you are not only bookmarking your sites or you will be quickly flagged as spam and banned!
Social bookmarking are not so great, in terms of link value, unless whatever it is that you submitted got tons of diggs or stumbles, and bring in the traffic. I havn't seen much difference, in terms of SERP improvement for bookmarking. You can use software for that to assist you (don't overdo it or risk ban of your account), it does bring in good traffic if you have good contents. I have pages on my site that gets over 4000+ page impressions. But vast majority of submissions, I'd be lucky if I get like over 20 reads over a couple months after submissions. It also have the added benefit, in terms of search engine crawls so you can stay steady in SERP as your site gets updated more often.
