Postage to increase to 41 cents on 5/14/2007.
They are releasing a FOREVER stamp, in which you don't have to make up the adjustment in event of future raise. Sounds like a good investment? No. Considering they raise the postage price 2 cents every 2 years. That's only 1 cent per year off a 41 cent investment.

    1/40 = 2+ % return...

    What do you guys think?

Well, if the Forever Stamp is like what we have here in Singapore where there is no par value stated on the stamp then although it is a good investment, it would not be the same price forever. Basically what happens is that if you bought the stamps now, you can hedge your investment as long as you still have those stamps you can use. Once you need to buy new ones, you probably be subjected to the higher prices. So to be effective, you might want to consider buying several hundreds or thousand stamps before the next increase.

It's a good deal if you send out a lot of mail on a daily basis, but since I hardly ever mail anything out it's really no big deal for me to spend a few extra cents.

With the internet, I find myself mailing out less than 5 times a year and most of the time, the bills that I need to mail a check in usually comes with a Prepaid Envelopes.
