Post Slug in Wordpress?

    What exactly does the post slug in wordpress do? What should i be putting in there? (if anything)

    the post slug = your page name, as seen in the browser.

    mysite.com/this-is-a-post-slug

    but i get a page name, regardless if i fill that section out or not, why is it even there? surely it has to have a concrete purpose. do you guys use it?

    You can change the way SLUG operates by going to Options > Permalinks. Click each option in there to see how the SLUG is effected.

    The SLUG in Post Editor overrides the default setting so you can have whatever SLUG you want for that post.
