Hello, I am wondering if anyone has had any experience or information regarding post sale advertising? It is basically a pop up ad that comes up after someone has purchased from a site, the ad doesn't have to be related to the site.

Similar to what they do here - http://allposters.com/

I am just curious to find out if this is an effective form of advertising or anyone's feedback they might have.

    Thank you

From what I have read, the logic seems to be that this person has already gotten their wallet out and used their credit card so they are in the "buying mood". If they then see a related or useful product, they are more likely to buy at that moment than if they were just surfing.

I think there is a certain truth to this, although I have not used this method. I think the most effective would be for related products. So if you have a site selling health food, you could team up with a site that sells healthy living ebooks and both use these kinds of ads to cross-promote each other's products.
