Can someone shed some light for me here. I was replying to a post about how to use adsense. The person who responded right above me offered his answer and mentioned his blog as an example, indicating that the OP should visit his site to see what he was talking about. So when I responded to the OP, I answered completely and referred to the fact that I had just posted an article about this specific topic a few days earlier on my own blog, and I provided my site's url. Like the poster above me, I did not use a hyper link and like the poster above me I didn't give a half answer and then tell the OP to read my blog to "get the whole story". AND like the poster above me, I had 15 posts at the time. So why was my post removed and I received a warning, but his post is still allowed to stay put with his url and all? I'm all for rules and whatnot, but I dislike cherry picking especially when the two people in question are right above and below each other in the thread.
Since I was not the mod involved in issuing the infraction, I have to read between the lines somewhat. The DP FAQ states: As a new member with relative few posts the warning serves as a reminder that we want members who are willing to make the community a better place, rather than a place to drop links. If mod were working a bad post report regarding link drop by new member he/she would not even see the post you mentioned unless he/she read the entire thread. If you look around you will find violations of all our rules. That does not mean we intentionally ignore the rules for some members, it just means we had not come across them. As another mod once posted. At some time or another we all speed. We do not always get caught but the practice of speeding will ultimately result in a speeding ticket. When you see rule violations make a bad post report by clicking on the little triangle with exclamation point and state what is wrong with the post.
That's really weird then. I reported the post twice and even sent a private message to one of the moderators before I posted this topic. In any case, it doesn't matter too much as I'm not here to spam the site with my url, and I'm not trying to sound like a whiner. I just wanted some insight into the moderating policies.
