Post on blogs or forums

I have posted comments on blogs that relate to my site and have joined a few forums and done the same thing. Signing up for a forums is ok but I have had a lot of trouble setting up signatures with being told I don't have permission of something like that. Forums seem to be a hassle but if they are as good as links from blogs I may keep trying. I guess I really want to know if it is better to post on blogs than forums or are they the same as far as traffic and providing backlinks.

Do both my friend. It will help in getting traffic from the visitors to the blogs and forums as well as a chance to get organic traffic from the search engines when the blog post or forum thread ranks in the search engines.

As for me, forum is a better way. You might get traffic from other users and get backlinks.
    I learn a lot from foruming :)

    Simple answer:

Forum links: Easy to make but no more quality
Blog links: Hard to get but Juicy links.

So you can understand which one is the best...

Doing both will help generate traffic from the visitors to the blogs and forums - at the same time you will get organic traffic from the search engines when the blog post or forum thread ranks in the search engines. Nice :)

Truthfully, both forum and comment type links tend to be garbage. Sure, if you make millions of posts they will add up. But there are better ways to spend your time then making millions of garbage posts on other people's websites.

And don't forget, people change their websites all the time. Forums hide sig links, bloggers nofollow the comments. The only website you can work on to ensure you're increasing quality is your own.

Thanks bro. I should point out, though, if you have more time than money, than go for all the forum and blog links you can get because it's better than nothing.

Sitting around on your dead ass is the only thing that won't get you rankings.

If you have more money then time, then go high quality, pay the freight, and rise to the top.

You should post on relevant blogs and forums, if the link is do follow you will get traffic and
it will also improve your serp, if the link is no follow you will still get some traffic.

There are tricks to help a forum post count a bit more then it would have otherwise. But you are correct, as far as most things go a forum post is not worth much of anything... however, a small handful of helpful posts with a related signature can pull in some fair amount of traffic, and it's traffic that we are all seeking anyway.

However, I do think that even a million garbage posts won't do as much as 5 or 6 high quality posts.

I think it is a good idea to post comments on both blogs and forums. However, only make relevant comments and try not to spam too much:)

Shouldn't that be don't spam at all? :p

The first part is definitely true though.

If you make relevant helpful contributions on threads many forums allow you to add a sig with links. The relevant helpful comments might convince other users that your site is worth a look.
