I have the most recent wordpress version installed. Network Solutions is the hosting company and I installed it through there "one-click-install". By default, it comes with about 10 different plugins and 10 or so Themes, none of which I want on their and I'm trying to delete them out and add new ones that I DO need.

But for some reason whenever I try and add a plugin it forces me to enter:

    Hostname:
    FTP Username
    FTP Password

Also, I cannot delete any plugins or themes in those respective folders. And I cannot change the permissions of the folders.

what do you think is going on here???

you can also remove/deactivate plugins in the wordpress admin area. have you tried that?
it need not be through ftp.

that's where i'm having the problem. the wordpress admin interface. when I try and delete, it requires me to re-enter the FTP Username and Password. But with every single other site I work on, the process is automated.

Try login with your hosting control panel and from there access your wordpress files and delete it.
If that doesnt work you may need to reinstall wordpress again.
