I am in the process of creating a news blog. http://www.goodnewsalliance.com
I am wondering which of the 3 options I should use.
    1) Post Content
    2) Post Content and then limit content to certain amount of characters
    3) Post Excerpt
Each post I put on the homepage will be assigned to a category. For example the feature story of the day might be relevant to education. So that is the category that it will be assigned to.
Option 2 and 3 will strip HTML-is that relevant for SEO purposes?
If I do option 2 and 3 the content will be partially shown on the homepage. The content will then be displayed in full on the education category page.
Am i correct in the above assumption?
Having some duplicate content on homepage vs category page be an issue for SEO purposes?
I hope I made myself clear. If someone can provide advice I'd like to understand what is best for SEO purposes and then weigh its impact on my design.
    Thanks-Matt

    Hi Matt,

I would use option 3, Thats precisely what the excerpt is for, showing a small section or intro to the article. You can write a custom excerpt when creating a post / page, this would be the best for seo imo. You cant use html, but perhaps format the theme's html where the excerpt would be shown to provide an seo advantage.
On the category pages, you could use option 2, then you would have 3 different bits of content:
    Homepage: Handcrafted excerpt.
Category / tag / archive pages: First 200 chars of the article.
    Post page: The actual article.

Hope this helps / gives you some ideas!
    Mark.
