Not really Noppid, we are discussing the operation of the forum so your comment is way off there.

This is not just teenage BS we are discussing but how a "professional forum" could be a better forum.

I think all content is of great value, you must remember that Shawn has stated many times that Digital Point is not just a SEO forum or a Webmaster forum.

Yeah, I probably did overreact, but I was fighting hackers on two forums for about a week at the time... not having fun at all and not in a mood to have people joking about it...

Belatedly, my apologies for upsetting you.

That's what I do. Make people answer for their so called opinions.

They may not be right or wrong, but if you can't articulate a point beyond pushing a button to say "you suck", I have no use for them.

Well that's debatable for sure and will come out in the wash.

You will not convince me it's anything more then childish.

This can be done in a adult way. If you like the post, give positive. If you don't, don't do anything.

Remember the days of the golden rule? I think one of them is "if you have nothing nice to say, say nothing".

All this bullshit is manifested in the arguments that come after the negetive reps and pointing out of disagreement.

Disagreement is good and debate is good.

However, when it is to meerly demean, it's useless. Ignoring a person is way more powerful then trying to convince them they are an asshole. You are doing them a favor and keeping attention on them. As it was already pointed out, it does not matter what they are saying, as long as they are talking about you.

We know that major corporations exploit this for publicity and it works. So basicly in your self rightious mode of putting people in their place, you actually help the one's with thick skins.

The ones that don't have think skins in the end are probably newbs and had a bit to learn, but instead of teaching them, some insult. That's really professional content on a help forum. :/

Digital Point forums are nothing more than the sum of comments by it's members, that does not mean that every comment has to be "professional".

You yourself say that many are comments by folks that do not even understand this business and that we are hard on them by voting bad reputation.

I have told the old members many times never to attack new members no matter how bad they are and that I don't agree with the gang mentality of voting folks in to reputation hell.

Noppid that happened to me when I first got here.

As far as content goes, some of the crazy threads here are much more popular than serious professional threads.

I have posted "professional intelligence" threads and have gotten little interest in them, so folks get bored with "complete professionalism" quickly.

So a good mix of content for the search engines to index is in the best interest of DP or any forum.

If I'm a mean cause I am right, then so be it!

If I'm mean because I can out debate someone, then so be it!

If I'm mean because I have called one or two people a childish name, then so be it!

    DILLIGAF? :D

    It's just entertainment.
