I think it is really funny myself, some members are really upset about it so I guess I should not make a joke out of it. You all have seen how many hits this thread has got :)

This is just one of many threads on the same subject here at DP on this.

Why so many are so interested in it really should be the thing we look at, since it generates so much interest, do you feel that DP should change the program in some way?

IMO, most people want to be liked and appreciated. A "Reputation" system feeds into this. When a member of the "community" starts dishing out negative reputation for no discernable reason and without accountability I'm sure a few members will take offense.

If it helps, I'm color blind. Personally I have never really paid attention to the rep thing.. It is pretty easy to get the jist of a person's "internet personality" from a few posts. I'd not think too much of it. Having a bad rep was pretty cool in high school. Think of it that way :)

He is not a bad guy TOOT, lighten up, he left here and you say he is posting somewhere else

Oh well, he is also posting on another forum I post to also.

So what, he left because folks were voting against him, just another reason the moderators should regulate reputation points here, or the system should be done away with.

Members should be required to leave a report on why they gave reputation, a moderator should review it along with their name to see if it is justified before allowing it.

whatever. Please people quickly snap back to reality for a tiny second here.

It's an online reputation. Do you know how dumb it would sound if you told any normal person that ! ! left a forum he posted alot on, just because he got a bit of red reputation.

Oh god, call 911  At the end of the day you just have to put things into perspective. If some little moronic idiot wants to give you a red rep - then take it like a man. Who really cares? Feel happy that someone would take the time out of their so obviously sad and pathetic lives to press a few buttons and give a bad rep.

I agree with ST anyway. ! ! was a nice enough person, never really spoke to him, but golly gosh how old is he? leaving a forum because of recieving a red rep is like killing yourself because someone disagree's with what you say. In life there are always idiots that try to piss you off/bring you down. Whether it's online or off. Just let them get on with it, take it with a bucket load of salt and get the fuck over it.

I agree, like a five yr old he left crying cause "the big kids won't play with me".
It is too rediculous for words and that sort of grandstanding can't be respected.

People that leave rep and don't leave a name are pussies. PERIOD

Why vBulletin wrote the Reutation system is beyond me. It's God Damn childish.

Why a professional based forum would use it, is beyond me. Shawn does alot of great things, but this is a stupid. Didn't like it from the day I arrived.

I have to admit, the ONLY time I use it is to act childish, but I sign my name.

It should be removed so people have to act like adults and make those Rep comments in public with their names on them in the threads.

    Grow up!

Although I think it is freakin' pathetic to get so worked up over bad reputations you recieve. I 100% agree with you.

Why you need a reputation system is totally beyond me, too. It's such a dumb idea. And most people, although won't admit it, do pay attention to it. It's like being back in High school with the popular group, and the loser group.

This forum is full of webmaster wizzards, clever intelligent adults - why on earth we need a ridiculous scheme like a reputation system... I cannot fathom out.

Like there aren't enough petty reasons for people to start internet drama, without VBulletin giving us more amo.

The key word being petty. If you have to argue with a person beyond proving them wrong with facts and being to the point, you have an ego and social probelm.

This is not the place for that. Make your point with your name and facts, or go away. This is a great way for punks to poke people.

The fact that it is for entertainment, but has punishment build in is god damn stupid.

I don't find it entertaining or amusing.
