I'm talking about putting nothing on a site except a search box... and having it display google results... is that allowed? edit: sorry i posted in the wrong forum... whoops
There are plenty of "search engines" like this. You have to work out what your unique selling proposition would be. If you don't have one then you are wasting your time.
You could use Adsense search to do this. But like other people have said there's really no value in it. I'm sure you could come up with a way to add value and get people coming back to your site though.
exactly. add value to it or you will end up putting alot of work into it and then have it never end up workin. add value
Overall view, create a vortical by having a Google Co-op box up on your site. Add user resource sites and make the search engine directed towards whatever niche/vertical you are trying to dominate. I see this as a potential opportunity, yet I feel as though there must be more added in. Possibly ads from services other than AdSense? What about an aggregation site with rss/xml feeds showing constantly-updated content? Think of implementing more power to this avenue and you could make a good amount of money...
I have seen many such sites. But I never felt like going back to those again. Because I could get the same results from Google, then why should I use an intermediate agent? But you may have better success if you integrate search results from multiple search engines.
