is it possible to avoid the sandbox by first building your site on an old's domain folder (site.com/folder) them doing a 301 redirect to newsite.com? Reading Google's webmaster guidelines they mention that if we want to change domain names then 301 is fine, so I figured why not use it to build a new site without being sandboxed

    I have a similar question:

We are trying to transfer some of our pages to a new Domain name/URL but would like the rest to remain at the old domain. Is the only way to avoid being penalized to transfer the ENTIRE site to the new URL with a 301 redirect? We do plan to permanently redirect the pages that we are trying to migrate to the new site.

    Thanks for any help.

i think it mainly depends on the keywords you are targetting, if they are non competitive then you could well get away with it.
