Possible DNS issue with subdomains

    Hello,

I'm very ignorant when it comes to server stuff. I just snagged a new server through EV1 with Apache and Plesk 8.0.

Everything seams to be working well, except for subdomains. I can not get them to come up at through my web browser.

I'm guessing this is some sort of DNS issue.

Any thoughts on what I should do to solve it?

I've been doing a lot of research, but I haven't found much clear cut advice that seams to work.

You might just need to wait for the DNS server to update with the proper IP for the subdomain.

    Okay.

The domain itself took maybe 5 minutes to switch over. The subdomain is sitting at 10 hours or so. Is this normal?

    no.. that is incorrect..

how do you setup your subdomain? Do you set it up within plesk using the subdomain function? or do you setup a new "domain" and use a subdomain name? either case, plesk will recongise it the next time the dns server is reboot if not immediately. (i.e. 5 min. on a cron job)

Yes, I just use the built in Plesk subdomain function.

I'll try rebooting my server and see what happens.

Once Rebooted , check out DNS report at dnsreport.com . You will get it whether its DNS issue or server end problem .

It turns out that I ended up resetting all the Plesk DNS configurations to the default and then added a
    *.<domain> CNAME <domain>

or something like that and it ended up working. So all is well.
