Oh yes, in my own belief, google will always rank number one. However, change is the only constant in today’s business environment so we just can’t tell what would happen next.
I think it will surpass Google as most people are not technically savvy. Looking at my "friends" on Facebook, they are very active in posting, some make posting an average of 5 daily, that says a lot. When more phones get to be more like iPhone, you will see an increase in Social sites like Facebook. Facebook should look into buying Yahoo for it's own Search Engines, who knows it might one day come.
I don't think anyone can beat google it's nice that facebook it ranked #2 but no one will be #1 other then google
Facebook has its own features but it cant overtake from google which is being widely used for many aspects.
Well, facebook is very demanding social networking site and it has been tremandeously increase its usage by the people all over the world.
facebook have the option to loose now, no option for gaining.. its all about marketing strategies and other stuff. Google can slap facebook very easily just need to ignore from indexing and facebook willl slip to 60 to 70 th rank. ORkut is much better than facebook. orkut is not seo friendly and so no promotion by other webmasters. that's why it looses its grip from the market.
Unless Facebook create a search engine then I doubt they will ever get there. I am sure nearly everyones home page is google, because you would be silly not too. When you think about it tho, when one person goes on to facebook, the page views on average is very very high. Its not just a quick search and then walla, its shifting through photos, status updates profile pages. So with that in mind they always have a chance. On the other hand, when google have the power of controlling what people find from search results, they can do anything... Any time soon? Definatly not. Possible? Only just.
