Positioning Software

Does anyone know much about positioning software? I have been trying to research this but a lot of the information and discussion on this topic seems quite outdated now.

Is it a good or bad thing?

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Do you want to find your position/rank using a software? You can use free google monitor or SEObook's rank checker firefox plug-in.

There are lots... commercial packages like iBP (iBusinessPromoter), Web Position Gold, etc. as well as some free tools.

But be aware that if you're detected at least by Google using software to pull rankings, it is a violation of their Webmaster Guidelines and Terms of Service... and your entire block of IP address could be banned from accessing Google for a 24 hr period.

When it comes to using software to help increase your rank, you want something that creates lots of varied one way links from semi decent websites.

One piece of software I've used with good success is autopligg. But make sure you use it to build links gradually over time and make sure you keep your anchor text varied.

See there is no problem with analyzing your site, like how it is doing SEOwise. After all, we can optimize our site only if we know how it is performing at the present.

However, tools that automate the process of search engine optimization and build your rankings automatically are completely blackhat and you must stay away from them.

So use SEO tools for analyzing and then do proper SEO manually. Build natural backlinks. And you'll rule the keywords.

Not sure if you are asking for software to monitor your search position or if you are wondering how to position your software in the marketplace. Please clarify as they are 2 very different things ;-)

    Hi everyone,

    Thanks for all the responses.

I'm talking about postioning software to determine your site's position in the search engines. When you have hundreds upon hundreds of keywords to check it is a very time consuming task...would be great to use software to do this instead but have heard of sites being banned from Google for doing this which I obviously don't want to happen!!

Thanks again for any response :)

Aye, I've been using the advanced web tracker trial, it's very accurate and can be scheduled to check the rankings for multiple sites every day.
