The troulble you find is that in competative keywords the high pagerank site is usally at the top and the lower pagerank sites come in under. I dont think I have ever seen a pagerank 0 site beat out a pagerank 5 site for the same keywords in Google. Please correct me if I am wrong.

well of course i prefer position because that's where the clients and income are. speaking just for my particular tourist/travel niche, most of the top sites for the town i live in are pr 5 or or 4 in general and have been around a good number of years too, something that i also believe is important to their continued ranking on the first 2 or 3 pages as they are established sites now. there are also a good number of 'authority' websites in the top results now, for example fodors, wikitravel, lonelyplanet, tripadvisor, etc which is something fairly new and those all have high/er pr as well, so......

Although PR is Nothing, But I always prefer to get links from High PR website, Why??? for improving page rank. But there is no doubt about SERPs Ranking High to get high traffic.

Whats above you 1 - 7 If you notice the higher listing have higher Pagerank then lower listings. I dont think I have ever seen a pagerank 5 site beet out a pagerank 0 site. If you have an example please post it.

I have a PR2 site at #1 out of 83 million for a site related keyword which happened through lots of work on building back-links. It's also on page 2 for another keyword I've started working on. PR I think means nothing...

That depends on the keywords you are willing to rank for ..

PR is something among many others to ameliorate your site postion .. So the goal is to rank well not to have high PR ..

Page rank still matters. If you had a choice of pr1 or pr5, which would you pick?

    Neither one matters.

Go to any bank and ask the president of the bank which matters to them.....

My bank cares about the $$$ a site earns :D

PR matters when it comes to selling off your site

    Only to a dolt.....

    I wouldn't buy a PR 6 site earning $50.00 a month......but I would buy a PR0 earning $500.00 per month.

You need to study business concepts before making inane comments in regards to what will sell and for what price......or if it has a silly green ingot rating

My feeling is that it's all a matter of probability - a high PR is more likely to outrank in SERPs a low PR site for the same keyword - and that PR still matters in a real sense to the majority of webmasters. Whether or not PageRank makes a specific, single page rank well in SERPS, I think a high PR page on a website is still useful for pulling other pages on the website into Google's main index and making the pages turn up in SERPs more often.

Absolutely right. Whatever you do, don't buy a site - or link - based on PR. Traffic and SERPs performance are the best measure. High PR might be an indicator that the performance is good but it isn't a cast-iron guarantee.

Serp is clearly more important than Pr. without a good Serp you get no traffic

I sold $300.00 worth of products today without any SERP or PageRank...

People really need to remember there are many more ways of driving "buy minded consumers" to a website than search engine organic results.

The object it to get the top position and in some non-competative markets you can you that by just having good on page seo, however in the heavy markets you need high PR from lots of backlinks as well!

that is my perspective. But most people still fall for PR. I tried one sale of a website having 3 PR but just 2-3$ adsense earning. It sold for 250$. So people still consider PR to be god.
