Does Page rank really matter because I have seen many website with low pr in the number one position on google search for many different search terms...

It is no longer a fair indicator of SERP.
Google has devalued PR in the last couple of years to stop people from exploiting it by doing paid reviews and using text link ad services.

I would pay more attention to position. Running after PR is not good. Many people ended up losing PR values by running after PR.

PR does matter but only to a extent, depending on the keyword you can still have a top position without PR.

You should really only care about position for the keywords you want to rank for. PR does not make you money but a good position for a good keyword or several keywords will make you money.

I have always given more importance to serp than PR since it is only with good serps that one is able to generate more organic traffic and thereby revenue for oneself.

PR is good only for those who are looking to sell links or websites!

PR is the easiest way to sell links and/or websites, but for an actual site ranking is everything after all you want quality organic search engine traffic

More than a marketing band, in search algorithm, PR is just one among the 200 signals that Google uses to rank your website..

I think there might be a direct correlation between pr and ranking. I'm sure most of the sites on the top pages of google for a particular niche have many backlinks and a pretty good pr.

Yes but to get position, the chances are you will have PR especially on competitive keywords.

I would gladly take a pr of 0 and have all my keywords rank in the top 5 than be a pr 10 and have my keywords no where in the first 3 pages.
