Position of links

    Hi

I was wondering. Is it important for Google where the links are placed - in bottom (like in the footer of the site) or on the top or middle of the site.
Does it change the importance of the link in the context of passing PR to other pages(external pages).

    Thanks

Closest to the top is best for sure. Top of the code, so usually top left...

I don't think the location of the link would have any difference for SE Spiders.

I read somewhere that MSN is proposing this type of weighted structure as they will be looking at embedded links in different areas on the page so it could affect it in the future with google. It's a very good question that I'd like to follow.

Don't search engines spider the top first? So logicaly it would be better at the top?
