Portfolio

I am currently designing an online portolio and would like some criticism on my site design: http://www.LiamMclaney.co.uk

(sorry I would post this in the review section but I havent been a member for a week yet and im desperate to know what people think - next time I will place it in the right forum).

I still need to complete the content of the site but what do you think of the general layout, colours, navigation etc.? Suggestions would be valuable.

i like the colors and nav as well its simple and pro

id suggest doing it all in flash

 

^ Thanks for your comments. Why do you suggest doing it all in flash? Im not too sure about flash as i have only just started learning how to use it.

 

It looks nice.

There are a couple of things I'd personally change:

-- I'd spice it up a little - maybe colour the logo orange like the one in your avatar - because it looks a little bland.
-- It has a big of a blog-like feel to it that I'm not too keen on (the headers, the right navigation...)
-- I'm not a big fan of the dotted underline your the links. Also why is the introduction header a link?
-- I'd make the menu a little more obvious - it took me a while to notice it.
-- I was going to check your contact page to see if you had a form, but I see you're working on it.
-- I'd also make your white oblique-lined background pattern stretch down a litle lower.

It probably sounds like I'm bashing your design but I'm not, I really do like it.
It loads really fast aswell, which is always a plus.

Oh, and I think there might be a typo on the result page of the OK Computer recreation:
"Once all of these components had been created I arranged a college that was similar to the original album cover."

Also, the site fails validation with 7 errors that seem pretty easy to fix, so you might aswell do so.

 

Thank you GLD for all your comments and each one has been noted and I will be looking in to how I can implement your ideas. I have removed the link on the introduction - the current design is an update of a previous design so the link used to go somewhere. Thanks for spotting that as well as the typo.

Thanks I will carrying on improving the site - does anyone else have any comments or suggestions? What do you think of adding google adds or will that make the site look cheap?

 

First of all it looks like blog. First impression is something I like to emphasize. Try showing the person browsing the site what you are doing quick

Its clean and professional. but i would like to have some pictures inserted - not the bright coloured ones, but the professional looking ones with mild colours and shades.

overall 7/10.
