    Hi,

Can anyone recommend a good portfolio plugin for Wordpress? I need something to display images, which can be sorted by category. Also it would be useful if I could add some notes to the images.

    Also ideally a free plugin.

Almost any gallery plugin will do it (even the built-in WP one will), assuming you use post categories, though "THE" gallery plugin is NextGen Gallery - free and huge, with loads of add-ons (also free).

Personally, I find it too unwieldy for what I want to do and generally go with a simpler one, or adjust a theme to do what I want, but it is very powerful and can do almost anything.

If you're running a portfolio site and don't need the blogging side, I'd personally recommend using a free gallery site app (Piwigo, Coppermine, whatever - do a search for "free gallery website app" or similar) as you'll get a much nicer setup for a pure image site that you will through WP (though with fewer themes).

Thanks, I will check that out. I am adding a portfolio to an existing site. I don't want to spend too much time or money on it, but I need something that looks professional.
