    Hello,

I am about to make own portfolio where I show off my work, but I am finding it very hard to come up with an unique design for it.

If someone could help me a little bit or give me some useful sites/tips I will appreciate it a lot.

    Examples would be excellent.

    Thanks in advance.

you should go to the freebies section and offer a free landing page for a couple of people, this way you should get completely unique ideas/sites (which will look a lot better in your portfolio than copied sites)

    are you a designer yourself?

if yes it'S kinda easy. just think about things that could represent you it might help to look throu some portfoiliodesigns on dA to decide on a style then all you need to do is design it.

else you need to brainstorm your ideas and try to tell them to a designer that will create the design for you. but this in most cases is not that easy and will take longer then designing the whole portfolio on your own which only will work if you're able to handle photoshop

I am using Photoshop for small graphics, but I wouldn't call myself a designer.
I know things would be easier... =)

I have no problem coding a design. I thought about some themes and thought about a modern-classical, renassaince, 16-17th century/pirate, theme as am I really fond of that era.

ok so you should look for something equal to what you want and show it to a designer and let him do the whole design.

the only important question left is if the theme will match the topic of your page

I understand. I will need to find the right balance between the different themes.
