Portal Sites with 10 Thousand Pages!!!

I have stumbled upon a certain portal site and i am new to this type of site as in litterally no knowledge at all bout them and their existence in the web.

please help me out about this certain topic because it got my curiosity going nuts how they do it and if it is true that these portal sites help generate BIG amounts of income and revenue as the site owner cliams.

are these portal istes really existent in the web and if they realy do give a significant amount of income for an on line business, why are these portal sites not prevalent?

 

Yahoo is a portal site. It attracts more people to its site than any other.

I think you are talking about those traffic equalizer sites and other stuff like that... Don't do it. Read Google webmaster guidelines instead.

 

watch out for portal sites. they get banned easily.

 

Thanks for all the advice that you guys have given me in this thread that i started. i'll try and see through them all. the web that i am talking about anyway is the internet itself.

 

I thought you meant portal sites as in Yahoo, About.com with all those differnt portals they have.
