I would like to be able to read and view PDF file ebooks on a portable digital device.. a cell phone would be nice. Does anyone recommend a unit which is less than $500? Thanks!
On motorola's website they don't mention anything about PDFs...You are able to view them on your phone?
my cingular 8125 (htc wizard 8125) came preinstalled with software to view PDFs. but trust me, you dont want to be reading a PDF on a cell phone. you have to zoom in and move it around to read unlike text documents which u can just increase font size and just scroll down regularly
how about a tabloid pc? the computer company RM (which is in the UK....dont know about USA) does them. its a very flat laptop kind of thing, which i believe has windows on it. not sure about cost though....maybe slightly over budget.
You can also read pdf files on a PSP using a homebrew application called Bookr. The project is listed here Also Sony has released a portable book reader solely meant for pdf. Unfortunately I do not know the price or have any links for it. ARonald

Your best bet would be to get the Treo 700P from Sprint. This phone will do it all including .pdf files. You want to stay away from the Windows version because you will have freeze ups and lock ups.... Typical for Windows. The Palm OS is easier for programmers to write programs for so there is some where in the neighborhood of 27,000 programs available for that device. The Q is cheap and has crappy navigation with that scroll wheel. A lot of companies are getting a large amount of them sent back. The one sprint Rep I spoke with a coulple weeks ago said that a lot of people were returning the Q and switching to the Treo 700P. Just my 8 cents

If it only the reader you are looking for. This is THE THING for you. Could be a little expensive at $350 though.
