Hello,

Are there any copyright issues if I had porn content (videos) on my forum?

As users upload them and I thought hosting them on the forum would be a good idea but is it against any laws as most would probably videos made at home or something.

Copyright is about ownership, not whats in the video it self, be it pron or anything else. If your users created those videos themselves, and they intentionally upload it to your site, then there shouldn't be a problem.

Problem comes when your users uploading video that doesn't belong to them. You could be sued for not doing enough to prevent illegal activities on your site. I think it happened with xtube

 

just put guidelines in forums before someone register

 

There are also a lot of warez sites, do you think they're ok too?

 

also you have u.s.c. 2257 record-keeping (ages of participants in the videos) gray areas to contend with.

 

Obviously common sense should kick in there...

As for videos, slap on copyright bottom right or link it at the last if you want to be safe.

 

Porn always have some or other problem with authorities.

 

Just host outside us or something n get familiar with the laws.

 

It's OK if your just sharing it and if your not earning revenue from that video. The function of copyright is only to give it's owner a rights to remove it from a site. It's not illegal to share.

 

so whats the point in doing it then?.....

 

Yes, it is illegal, if it isn't yours, you CAN'T use it without the owners permission.
