Internet explorer 7, FireFox and Opera have default option to block popups and popunders. So it means that this kind of advertising sucks? Is it true?

Pretty much, Not only the fact that " most " browsers do indeed stop them, The end user in most cases finds popups annoying thus making them leave the site with the popups. I have never and will not use them for that reason.

I thought we all learned that "popup advertising sucks" back in 2004.

Low revenue...annoying to visitors...terrible advertising method.

I remember when that web cam was released, and they had pop up/unders everywhere. I believe it was called the X Cam, and its sad that I actually remember the name.

IMO pop ups/unders are useless. Back in the day it worked, but these days it offers a poor ROI.

    Agree 100%.

Pop-ups and unders are so annoying for the user, I'd never use them for my site.

Interestingly enough, a lot of sites i end up on still use them, but I can't see how they can be used as a means of profit?

    Annoying pop-ups = goodbye site.

In particular pop-unders do not work. Once upon a time I subscribed to 10,000 pop-unders for $89 and received ZERO opt-ins for a free service I was promoting. Absolutely not worth the money.

Pop ups suck on every level. I have seen retailers use pop ups as a way to entice you to come back if you leave their site with a dicsount BUT it ends up discounting your brand. Bad from every angle...
