    Do popup ads affect traffic?

I'm new to popup ads and when i placed some on my site, traffic instantly went down and it's killing my business.
Can someone please enlighten me on this?

Well if I'm your surfer, I will constantly annoyed with your popups and leave your site immediately and never return back.
Hence, most surfers are not happy with popups

Well usually pop-ups are bad for most sites with the exception of adult ones.

it's actually an adult site. what i don't understand is the dramatic drop in traffic. and i'm talking about unique visits.
my returning visits didn't drop that much. shouldn't people visit the site first before they leave because of the popups?

I agree on adult part. If your surfer are so pervert enough he dont mind any popups as long as he can watch your videos

thats expected if you use pop up network which pops so many popup window at a time, freezes computers, or try to download virus or adware, malware, or redirect visitor, you earn good amount from them but in long term, you loose visitor, because visitor are afraid to come to such site again, specially where they get virus and computer gets freeze.

I personally never visit such site again, one or two popup window in background, is fine, those are not annoying and mostly every site has them now, even big company website has one pop up ads, you will see them in sites like yahoo as well, becuase one ad is not annoying if it opens smoothly and does not freeze computer.

So many of these popup network, to give better rate, try to open so many pops at a time or redirect, which ofcourse going to cause issue and no surfer would like it

That's a tuff one to really nail down. From my personal exp, i've never had much positive output with popups in general. I've had some good numbers with pop under sign ups. That seems to work best for me. These day's i keep things like add space automated. I also work mainly with adult related websites. When it comes to the upper class with automation of that sort of thing there's a lot of options. I personally like a.m.s, that works with me on an all-in-all bases. Check out mr's piece on it if you want. majorityreviews(.)com/traffic
