Popular Writing Blog for Sale

First of all, this is NOT my site, and I'm not selling it, so don't ask me for stats or anything. :D A colleague is selling a popular writing blog - www.ContentDoneBetter.com, and doesn't seem to be getting much interest, which is kind of surprising. I just thought I'd mention it here in case there were any writers in the lot who were interested in taking it over (far too many writing blogs of my own to do it myself :( ). You can find the details on the blog in this post if you're interested.

..not the vaguest idea as to what motivates buyers of sites.

The #1 motivation by far is earnings and he blathers on about all kinds of things but I'm having great difficulty finding mention of lucre (or lack of it). Have a look at any site for sale forum and that's the number question on buyers' minds.

To quote him: "The nasty secret about writing is that it’s work." In this case it's unpaid work. It's not getting interest because it's not looking for an investor, it's looking for someone looking for a labour of love.

He has some very nice posts though.

He earns most of his income through his services, and the blog is a strong branding mechanism (huge PR value for any writer to adopt that name if they know what they're doing... this one's not about direct site earnings, but deeper company value). It's more for someone who's starting out in writing, or doesn't have a recognizable name in that community yet, and not for webmasters just looking to monetize some content... there's much bigger money in it service-wise than you'd ever get out of it through direct monetization. I just know we have quite a few serious writers here who would know the value, which is why I posted. :)

There are easier ways to get writing commissions.

At auctions "deeper company value" etc., are arguments that don't translate into dollars unfortunately.

It was good of you to post here on his behalf. I wish him good luck and may he find someone to name all his future pets and children.
