Popular Wii site for possible sale

I am wanting to sell Wii Ratings.



I have done almost NO work to it for months. Mainly because games don't interest me. However it still brings in lots of hits for an unmaintained site (these are just the stats from statcounter.com - 3rd party stat program):

If you visit the site, you will see adsense isn't really implemented well at all. I set it up so it wouldn't look spammy/too full of ads. So adsense earnings will be minimal (i don't even bother putting a channel on them)

Our alexa rank is 295,000, which to be fair is quite high. Very easy to make higher - just add some news every day.

Some things i'd like to say ...

A few years ago I used to run a very successful general gaming site (this was 2 years ago now). It covered PS2/PC/Xbox/Ngage and a few other system. It was probably as popular as Wii Ratings is now, but we contacted several PR (public relations) companies for game developers/publishers etc and got lots of freebies to review, promotional products, demo disks, and I was even in the press confrence when Nokia announced they had sold 1 million Ngage handsets (and at that press conference met the main pr woman who gave me a couple of ngage qd's (newest version of the ngage at the time) and a few games. For the next few months i got quite a lot of n gage games (on the sd cards), some pc demo's (normally say "FOR PRESS ONLY"), ps2 pre release gamges etc. I of course reviewed them all, never did it just for some freebies (I was really into gaming at the time so it was a passion), but i have to admit they were pretty cool as well to be getting games all the time =). They never ask for them back either.

I had to give up the site due to the amount of time it was taking and I needed to concentrate on school work.

Getting into the game industry is very exciting, especially if you are into games. I kinda grew out of games, and writing reviews is a pain for me now. I just have no interest in them. Also, pr companies love fan sites - they don't just rely upon IGN and gamespot. For more info, see Games Press. I havn't signed up for GP with Wii Ratings (already got accounts related to other gaming sites), but they will authorise your account =).

About the site & its backend

It all runs off a database (mysql) and is all custom scripted in PHP. It is all (apart from the forum, which is a MyBB forum) custom. Including the layout/design.

There is a basic backend, however as I was the only one using it I used to just enter it all via PhpMyAdmin. The admin backend however does allow you to easliy add

• News
• Previews
• Games
  

I guess it is just that I get so used to using phpmyadmin that I just carried on using it even after getting the admin backend all pretty and working.

At the moment there isn't really a cheat system. All it does is takes the list of games, and says "There are no cheats for [game name]", just so we get a few extra longtail search hits.

The whole site is optimised for search engines, including:

• Heading tags used (h1 etc)
• Title (<title>) always is what the page is about#
• Search Engine Friendly urls
• Ability to span articles (reviews/previews) over multiple pages if they are too long [some seo'ers like to do this... some don't... it is upto you
• Lots of interlinking - game previews link to the main game listing, links to other previews/reviews etc
• Nice design all in CSS - no clumsy tables, smaller sizes
  

There is also the ability too add affiliated links to Game/Play.com etc (all uk ones at the moment), though I have never bothered to actually use this.

I'll help you install it, get it working. If you want the cheats system to work i'll add it for $75 (requires custom programming by me, this isn't just another cheat script or something that i'll "add on" or anything like that).

Because of the great domain as well, nice content management system (which is all custom coded for just this project) starting price : $650.

Have a look at www.tradedoubler.com. They have affiliate programs for HMV, Game, Play, and others - these are all uk console shops.

You may also want to look into those eBay ads - always consoles for sale on eBay. But other than that, I am not really sure - I havn't spent much time actually monitising this site/looking into how, other than some badly placed adsense ads.

If I had the money I would definitely be interested in buying it. The uniques per day isn't bad by any means either.
