Hello, I am a web developer thats been doing websites for many years, and I have many sites, and I do use a lot of techniques in SEO to get my sites popular, and well with my 8th site, I have found a great niche. Right now I get ~7,000 Uniques a day... Here's an excerpt from my StatCounter.com page: Uniques| First Time| Returning 7,808 3,806 4,002 Stats from this saturday. Yesterday had about 6500. Anyway, I use google adsense, which brings in some money, but not a lot, I get about 100 clicks a day. My Page CTR for July is: 0.50% My Page eCPM for July is: $0.64 Not sure what I'm suppose to understand from that. I never been good at marketting. Anyway, I was wondering, is there any other ways I can get better ads, or sponsors. Perhaps I should contact related companies for ads/sponsorship, which I wonder how to even approach that. I also wonder whether there is a better type of ad to put on, maybe I should contact certain sites and do some affiliating, but I have no idea on what makes a lot of money, or how I should deal with a niche site that deals with computer gamers. Should I go to xbox site and send them an email lol? Thanks for any help or comments!!!
Maybe your adsense earnings are low because of the niche of the website.. Are there any relevant affiliate offers you can jump on board with ?
It could be, they are gamers, usually they just go in the site and use our program, they dont necessarily spend hours on the site. I dont know any relevancy, but I do computer game related stuff, so perhaps, the relative niches would be like playstation, xbox, nintendo, wii, psp, since they're mostly kids/adults between 10-30, i would say music may be a good idea.
Work on your ad placement and blending. If your ads look like ads they're less likely to be clicked. The value of the clicks is also based on the value of the market your content is in. Ads that match your content may just be cheap and you're going to need more visitors or a high click thru rate to make up for it.
Well, I put link ads at the "content top" area, and 468x60 text ads at the bottom of content, as well as putting "small rectange" text ads on the LEFT of text inside my content. But perhaps its because I dont have too much content other than tech support for my games, I will be adding more strategy things for the games, maybe it will increase during that time, right now I'm battling another site who has more players than me playing on our software, we have slowly begun to gain the majority. The thing is, most users play on our software, so they tend to login from the software, and not bother coming on site unless theres an update or some new information, or game statistics, or they want to see their score history etc. I'll see what else I can do. But content is not really the "selling" point of the website I suppose. Our content is support/faq, updates information, upcoming feature information, and score data.
It hosts old games, that a lot of adults play, or kids that use to play old games. Like the Age of Empires series.
