    Hey folks!

I own a social network website which has 27,000 members and has only been up for about 6 months, I'm getting (what I think anyway) is great traffic!

    60-70k hits a day, 3,000 uniques.

Since I installed my stat software on June 27th:

Now, however, I'll plop adsense on every page at the top, and only get maybe $10 a day?

That's not the only thing, alexa ranks me 260,000th something...

Is Alexa really accurate? I'm not bitter, just curious :p

I want people to purchase adspace but can't find a good enough place to ask for help!

    That's all, please help :p

EDIT : It's a site aimed at 13-17 (Mainly Girls)

Well, my first recommendation is to use Google Analytics to track your statistics. It's by far the best and most accurate online application to use. Next, make sure you adsense blends in and is relevant to the content. Try placing it in different places. 13 - 17 year old girls aren't interested in most ads so perhaps adsense isn't the best choice.

Alexa sucks. Alexa ranks your site based on the amount of people that use the Alexa toolbar that visit your site. Chances are, barely any of your users use this toolbar. I doubt a teenage girl cares about what sites are ranked, and therefore has no use for the toolbar. Ignore Alexa, it means nothing.

    Good luck.

As said above, alexa rank only increases if the user has the alexa bar, and i expect none of your users have this bar.

Also maybe instead of adsense, use those "annoying" smiley adverts, or that "zwinkey" advert, i should expect that would get clicked more than your current ads ;)

I've been making websites for years, and used Alexa religiously and NEVER knew that! That's quite poor actually.
I really appreciate both your help! Thanks :D

just to add, forget alexa, use the analytics provided by google but make sure you paste them in carefully or they will cause problems, ensure that the ads on your site are extremely relevant or you are wasting time, effort and valuable pixels space,

If you truly have that much traffic, go to the networks such as advertising.com, casalemedia, etc. and get paid on a CPM basis. Also find targeted CPA offers. Adsense is kind of the bottom of the barrel as far as monetization strategies go. Use it for unused ad inventory. Eventually you can sell advertising directly if you put together a compelling and factual rate card; it will be more profitable for you at that point.

Not entirely true. Alexa has been tweaking their algorithm lately to take toolbar visits less into account. Honestly though your alexa rank doesn't matter, what you really need to care about is revenue and the actually number of visits your tracking software is showing, it's much more accurate.
