    Hi all,

due to loosing a very close family member earlier this month, I've decided to sell off some of the sites I was working on but will now not have time to keep going. This site is called HumorStash. HumorStash runs on a script that is no longer publicly available and has been modified by myself to handle larger amounts of games, plus to be more secure. The buyer can not sell the script as it was a free script.

The site was setup just over a month ago and had a game submitted to heavygames.com -- once it was listed, the visitors poured in. As you can see in the stats below, the day the site was listed, the revenue and visits jumped. The revenue would have stayed constant but I have not been online for a few weeks for the above reason. With a little work, you can continue to earn a nice tidy sum from this great site.

    Price
    Starting Bid: $40
    Buy It Now: $250
    Minimum Increments: $10

    THIS IS A MULTI-FORUM POST!

Notes: The buyer is responsible for transferring the site to their host/server and will be expected to do so in a reasonable amount of time. As with all auctions, the seller (myself) reserves the right to refuse bids, cancel the sale , etc.

Interested but I'd like to know more about the original script - what was it called? Was it open source / GNU? If it's open source do changes we make have to the script have to be contributed back to the open source project, etc?

    Thanks ShadowStriker...much appreciated.

Slincon: The script has no name as far as I know. The copyright says it was for freeturnkey.org, a site which used to give out free scripts (GPL). The script is (as far as I know) GPL. It is opensource and has no parts encoded. If you make changes, you dont have to release it free but you cant sell the script. Thats what the GPL states.

Hope this helps, highest bid is $40 from ShadowStriker

Actually, that's not what the GPL states - you can sell something released under the GPL if you want (how do you think all the Linux distribution companies make money?).

Well I'm telling you you cant sell the script because It's been modified. Thus, I can release it under a different or no license.

Regardless, by buying the site, the new owner agrees not to sell the script. End of.

FYI, if you sold the script to someone, they could legally give it away for free or charge people (the GPL does state that).

That's not the case. If you modify someone else's code released under the GPL, you cannot release it under a more restrictive licence.

Your statement above contradicts the one you make below.

Yes you can...go read the latest version of the GPL
How so? My second statement is pointing out that if you did resell the script without permission, the person who bought it from you can give it away for free.

I'm reporting you posts as you're just trying to get off by crashing peoples threads. Get a life mate.

Highest bid is @ $50 from MMGant
