With this new Min bid first page recommedations have you guys been experiencing slaps or getting poor scores by bidding below that?

I bidded below the first page recommendation and it slapped my scores dropped them down to a 3/10 poor :(.

There have been a couple of us commented on this about a week ago. I went live on the new system nearly 4 weeks ago. Everything was hunky-dory for a fortnight then a large number of my terms suddenly dropped 3 or 4 QS points.

Was it just a coincidence that the majority appeared to be terms where I was bidding below the 1st page suggestion?

Been trying to figure it out ever since! Why does a word that was "great" under the old system for 18 months suddenly drop from 8 to 4 when I have made no significant changes in maybe 6 months?

That don't make no sense. That's exactly what I'm saying I bidded below the suggest min. bids and I was still on the front page. well then Google slapped my QS, but I was still on the front page even with a poor QS which granted my Ads weren't performing as well in their positions, but they was still up there.

I just re-uploaded my keywords and I'm going to try to bid above the suggested min. bid.

Is that what you did? If so did your QS shoot back up?

No, it doesn't and it gets even more senseless.
Actually, I did nothing at all. Many of the words I was bidding to appear on page 2 or 3 anyway and for those that were appearing on page 1.... well, they are still being shown on page 1! So far, 10 days after the drop in QS it has had no significant effect whatsoever on the performance of the keywords and, even more bizarre, for my campaign overall the average position of my keywords has risen very slightly while the average CPC has gone down about 10%!

Personally, I am coming to the conclusion that QS is irrelevant and just go by ave. position, CPC and CTR.

    Could be....

    I'm not sure...

I was thinking the same thing at first becuase when my QS scores got slapped with POOR QS my positions were still the same and my ads were still showing just fine.

I just rebuilt my campaign and changed my URL, but this time I bidded above the recommended first page suggestion. I'm going to try that and see how that works.

well, i doubt that. when my CTR got higher, my QS was slapped as well and my ad positions were brought down. I think QS plays an important role here...but I also don't know how to beat the QS formula.
