Warren Buffett was number 2 for a long time, a lot of who is in the top 10 depends on stock market at any given day, Buffett companies have done well while Microsoft has done nothing in the last 8 years stock price wise.

 

I know this may not make sense, but i think this thread should be called "Rich Bill Gates!"

Yes it's because he made a bid for Yahoo is the main reason he isn't #1..however buffet is going to donate money to gates and he will become #1 again i read somewhere i think :s

 

Bill Gates does give a ton of his money away to charity. I have always found it interesting to ask people who say people like Gates should just give it to charity how much they give to charity every year.

Anyway... most of his money is in stock so he doesn't have 50 billion "in the bank" and if he followed the advice of all those people who are so generous with other peoples money and decided to give it all away then he would probably cause a stock market crash (selling all his shares).

Congrats to Mr. Gates, he has created a lot of value... why would we feel justified to say that he should just give it away? Simply because he has more than us? Lets lose the jealousy=)

 

I wish I could have 1% of that amount of money. I'm dead broke.

Don't forget that Bill Gates also invests his money in charity work too, as previously said. Plus he has the B and M Foundation.

 

For those who are saying "Yeah but Bill has donated soooo much" and "he'd be number one if he didn't" .... I think you may find it interesting to see how much Warren Buffet has donated to The Gates Foundation ....

Easy way for Bill Gates to compensate for the loss is to play blackjack! Just bet $2B. If you lose, bet $4B. Rinse & repeat. When he breaks even, start betting @ $2B again. Easy system man! Good luck Bill!
