I added a poll to my website to make it more interactive and in 2 days, it helped with driving people to my site. however, when they vote, they are taken to another site owned by the polling company so the user is going out of my website and then they don't see my content or click on ads.

is there any way i can change this? is it a good idea to have a poll at all?

how else do i make my site more interactive?

A poll wont make your website attract more visitors purely by itself.

    1. Having fresh updated content will help with your SEO
    2. Keeping your traffic in your website is priority 1, I suggest you get a proper poll installed or created for you.
    3. Making your website more interactive on a whole doesn't get you any browny points.

need more info on your site and the polling site.

Wonder why you cannot embed this into your site and make it stay there!

I don't think such kind of polls are a good idea.
Just find polls that don't drive your visitors away ;)
