    I did this poll so that I could see your opinions. Will content
    ever be over thrown by anything?

    I'm talking useful information to the reader, surfer, and such.
    Is this ever going to change?

    I don't think it will be obsolete. It may become less popular or less common, however I think it will always be around. Surfers are always after fresh content, and I can't see that changing

    Of course, if there are no attractive pictures on the site, a person may not interested in it. But still the interesting content is the most important thing which attract people and make your site popular.

    Content will not become obsolete... though QUALITY content may become harder to find.

    People need to realize that to attract visitors to their site, they must write for the READER, not search engines.

    You aren't going to have repeat visitors if your site is full of garbage "Content" that doesn't make sense.

    content well never go away because that's the whole purpose of the internet.
    what would it be replaced with, all ads or all links to other places without content
    it makes no sense

    the form of content might change or show trends of changing from say text to more video and sound or something like that.

    I agree with DeniseJ, content will not become obsolete, but high quality content will be come harder to find. Here are a few reasons why:
    • Quality content takes a lot of time and/or money to produce. People must be compensated for their efforts if they are to be able dedicate their time towards producing said content. Unfortunatly more and more people are using ad-blocking software, which makes it harder to earn compensation for one's efforts.
    • It is far more profitable to produce massive amounts of low quality content that generates lots of search engine fodder than it is to produce less content that is of a higher quality.
    • It is far more profitable to focus on low quality content that targets high value key words than it is to ignore keyword value and focus on producing high quality content.
    • Content theft (people who steal content from other sites to post on their own sites) make generating revenue from one's own efforts much more difficult.

    I try to focus on producing high quality content, but paying scientists to write articles for me is expensive and my projected payback per article is around four years on average. This is a huge investment risk. In addition, I have to constantly track down and terminate copies of my content that have been illicitly published on other sites. There is also the endless cycle of promoting one's site and content, which takes considerable effort.

    Simply put it isn't as profitable to produce high quality content, and people tend to take the most popular routes.

    KLB put my generic point into very specific details, all of which I tend to agree with.

    Unfortunately, as long as there are people who prefer to take the most popular route when it comes to producing content, quality content will become increasingly harder to find.

    However, there are people and companies that recognize the value of quality content - and also the value of that content when it comes to compensating their writers.

    As much as I hate to say it, there will always be people who refuse to produce content for their readers and prefer to focus on generating low-end content to please search engines.

    On the flip side of the coin however, there are people who actually care about the quality of their websites/content and will pay a professional writer to attract repeat visitors - even if the initial investment might be higher.

    If content, in the collective sense of the word, were to go out of style, this would be the most probable scenarios:

    - getting a black empty screen every time you access the World Wide Web;
    - 15% of the world workforce populace will be unemployed;
    - and 10% of businessmen around the globe will set up food or other establishments such as multilevel marketing institutions.

    If text content were to go out of style, here's what you would expect:

    - the internet will shove TV aside and take its place;
    - the internet will shove radio aside and take its place;
    - ebooks will sell wild;
    - online libraries will receive a massive volume of traffic on a regular basis;
    - and client support centers will need to hire more people.

    But if content development continues to broaden its horizons towards its predetermined growth levels, this is what you'd get:

    - original quality content development institutions such as http://www.grayscaleconsultancyservices.com will turn into vertically-inclined tri-media solution firms.

    Man,

    I've been waiting for somebody to finally come out of the woodwork, and expose those Segway-Riding, B-B-Billionaire-Making, World-Dominating, Perk-Boasting, IDIOTS at Google investing their entire lives and fortunes into every kind of Content-Specific result known to man. Those fools! (Insert maniacal, evil laugh here).

    PSA:
    Please note sarcasm, and my subtle as a squirrel humping your leg in the middle of church, answer.

    Umm...no, content will never go out of style. It's the reason people use the internet.

    I just wrote a blog basically saying that webmasters should stop trying to please search engines and be more concerned about pleasing their readers.

    What internet users are looking for never changes. They're looking for recipes, directions, phone numbers, advice. They're trying to solve their problems. Website content should always focus first on solving users problems.

    Notice that search engines, Google at least, are constantly tweaking their algorithm to make sure the top 10 results are most relevant to searches. This is because they are dedicated to making sure internet users are getting what they need. They don't care what webmasters are doing to their websites. They care about what search engine users are trying to see.

    Webmasters have got it all wrong, in their minds Google is their customer, so when they write content, they write for Google.

    I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this - on second thought, no I'm not - but Google isn't going to buy your product or click on your ads, so STOP WRITING FOR GOOGLE!

    Anyway, none of that answered your question, but no, as long as Google uses content as a ranking mechanism, then it won't go out of style. But, the day Google says "To hell with content, we only care about links" is the day we'll start seeing a proliferation of links that point to webpages containing nothing but ads and a "Buy Now" button.
