I think that question is so vague. How do you expect to get traffic from a forum because the number is so minimal?
Its a POLL....the answers are there...if you dont see an answer its simple select OTHER...why are you questioning my poll... Its pretty simple you take the poll or you dont.
I voted, Participating on Forums/Forum signatures because it really showed me the results more than anything. I speak in past tense as I no longer own a forum.
Are you referring to new members or traffic in general? Most of my site's traffic is from existing memberships.
i get most of my traffic from organic searches from google. so i'll vote for SEO. i'll check this poll after 1month to see the results and learn from it. nice poll man.
One of my popular forum gets most of the traffic from organic searches mostly from google, so SEO for me
The majority of my traffic comes from google. After that its yahoo, bing, youtube, blogs and other forums. But on the otehr hand, google traffic also has around a 50% - 55% bounce rate. With yahoo and bing traffic being the most targeted of the search engines.
other great forum traffics can be find through google search for keywords, top affiliate forums directories
before I sold my old forum, most of my traffic came from people visiting it themselves (not a link from another site). I guess I initially advertised it by commenting on blogs and participating in forums and it just picked up by itself from there
WOuld be better if the poll was about where do people get the most sign ups rather than the most traffic! Ill keep a eye on the results though as still a good post but I have good traffic on my comedy forum but sign ups are slow, maybe a couple a week but the ones I have are active and post a bit so should expect big results after just a couple of weeks being opened
My guess is that the obvious winner of this poll so far - ( SEO ) is where most sign ups come from. I think this poll will help anyone creating a forum.... i think we all know that the #1 thing for forum traffic is SEO. With out search engine optimization we are essentially 'LOST' ! Best, -C P.S. - please Continue to POLL IN!
Twitter's first, but coming second is either Google or related communities. I don't really get much from Promotion/Admin communities these days.
