Everyone who brings up this non-political CRAP that is distracting us from real news deserves to be fired.

I was thinking something along the lines of "who cares" I don't know who the guy is or was, I don't know what was really said but the 3 or 4 words quoted everywhere and that 2 other racists didn't like his comment.

So I just wrote way too much on the subject.

To me the only "big deal" is that if Imus was black we would have never heard of this.

    End of story.

its still a matter of free speech....I read that a DJ in Pennsylvania was also fired just for repeating the comments!!! If I was the DJ, I would be suing the pants off that station....it is a blatent violation of 1st amendment rights....

Thanks noobie, but I fear the damage is done...he has already been fired and there is no way they will re-instate him...look for him to pop up on another station soon....btw, I have heard much worse on Howerd stern (which is why I only listened for about 5 sec and never went back)

Yes, you have freedom of speech. However the company has the right to hire or fire what employees they want too. If my employer wants to fire me, he could do so with no warning, at the drop of a hat, just like I could quit with no warning, with the drop of a hat.

Not the Radio station, the Radio Station sponsors fired him in practice. Actually, they in turn wanted Imus to go because they thought that they would be risking their customer base to boycott their products/services.

So it's the customers/listeners of the radio Station the ones that indirectly, and to some degree unconsciously, fired him.

    But you know what?

I never heard of Imus before and I'm sure many others.

He'll find a better job soon.

But it wasn't right to go as far as firing him, in my opinion, if not for anything else, because if he was black and said something silly as he did about white women, it would definetely not have happened. But of course, who knows...

The Radios station fired him because of pressure from the advertisers, who laid pressure due to perceived pressure from the mob, who were perceived to be laying that pressure due to the media, who where catering to wonders mick fumbles-politics, the supposed representative of black people.

But in the end it was the choice of the station, and they had every right to make that choice.

Oh, yes, they had every right too, I probably would have done the same if money was my priority.

If it wasn't, I probably would not have fired him, although I would have had a word or two with him...

I think their original decision of a two week suspension was fair...but I guess it does come down to Al and Jesse and the $$
