I've been a vegetarian since I was a kid; like another poster in the first page, I find even the smell of meat to be disgusting.
well, we all have our own choices in life, even with the food we eat. I am a meat eater, but i also like eating vegetables. not much of a beer drinker, though.
i dont know why Vegetarian's always tries to proof that they feel better... i feel better when i eat Meat Vagi's will eat up all the plants and animals will die automatically
As silly as it might sound, one day I woke up and I felt this strong feeling like I couldn't be fully creative until I stopped eating meat. I felt a strong feeling that I should have leisurely read through the book of Daniel in the and the whole passage is about how when he and his hebrew friends refuse non-kosher food and they end up stronger for it. At the time I thought I would die if I stopped eating meat, but I figured I might as well try it. After two weeks I wasn't in the hospital, I was feeling better than ever and required an hour or two less sleep, but felt even better whan I was awake. And when I look at my work it has certainly improved. The most radical change is how much your eyes are opened when you stop eating meat. I believe no animal should be abused, but I certainly don't think everybody should stop eating meat. I believe I was specifically called to this so I won't promise that everybody who stops eating meat will result the way I did. After a year of not eating meat you are consciously aware of the sacrifice of life that the animals make to ensure our survival, and that sacrifice has meaning again once you aren't relying on it. Our soldiers sacrifice their lives in a similar way to ensure our freedom and survival, so in many ways life is simply life. I feel that my enjoyment of life has increased the more I recognize its value. I also have become a stronger person during this period (it's been over 2 years now) and I have become more assertive, yet less confrontational and much stronger in my beliefs. I value peace, and although I acknowledge there is a proper time to defend yourself with force, my articulation and diplomatic skills have grown to a level where I don't depend on aggression (verbal or otherwise) to help others see my side of things before a compromise can be reached. I don't think vegetarianism will fix all of the worlds problems, but I do urge everybody to stop eating meat long enough to recognize the value of the life lost for your survival, and to honour that life and honour the sacrifice. If someday a greater race of beings than humans came along and decided we looked tasty we would value our lives more than we do today, and we would probably recognize the sacrifice made by humans for whatever greater race's survival as significant. I think the most important thing in life is to listen to those small whispers that lead us in the right direction, and to follow them immediately, with a rational mind and a questioning spirit, but to follow them and see what new doors it will open for us that we never thought possible before.
