Well not really - but almost. A new study by the Pew Research Study shows that viewers of the Daily Show and the Colbert Report have the highest knowledge of national and international affairs, while Fox News viewers rank nearly dead last: http://thinkprogress.org/2007/04/16/daily-show-fox-knowledge/ The results about Fox News echo findings of previous surveys. In 2003, University of Maryland researchers studied the public’s belief in three false claims — that Iraq possessed WMD, that Iraq was involved in 9/11, and that there was international support for the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq. The researchers stated, “The extent of Americans’ misperceptions vary significantly depending on their source of news. Those who receive most of their news from Fox News are more likely than average to have misperceptions.†Fox News viewers were “three times more likely than the next nearest network to hold all three misperceptions.†HAR HAR HAR!
That's interesting, but not surprising (about the daily show)... It shows news, then adds some entertainment in there to amuse the less-political chunks of the population... Whereas, I believe more and more people are starting to see how partisan, and possibly misleading, the conventional news channels are becoming...
It never ceases to amaze me how people actually think The Daily Show is a news show, its a parody of news! Its a friggin comedy! Uggh the MTV generation....how gullible could people be? It presents little if any info on news. Somehow I think the same people who present these shows are the same ones doing the surveys/polls.
Hello??? >>>>> COMEDY CENTRAL? http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_daily_show/index.jhtml Ring a bell? Its a joke!
OH I FORGOT ABOUT THAT! Because its on the Comedy Central channel that means they can´t give opinions on real life events! Silly me. Somehow in your brain you have come up with this equation: satirical = not true
Thats ok. You should have known better but no problem. Those Colbert interviews are so real too! They don't edit those at all! Oy Vey!
Shame on them for editing a TV show so they can fit it into a 30 minute time slot! They should really know better. TWalker, I think you should let them know how things should go - you seem to be right on the money every time.
And someone actually posted right after you who believes that it is NEWS. I just watched what was on the front page of their site and sure it has a news story, but john stewart (if thats his name) shows his opinion by making fun of most of it. I think you are right about the MTV generation, no one uses their brain anymore. Where is alex jones when you need him. EDIT: didn't realize I had not clicked to post for a few minutes....
Sorry, what a goof I am, I must get all my news from comedy shows! The other day I saw an excellent wildlife documentary about ducks...... ohhh wait no that was a Daffy Duck cartoon...
If you actually read the poll it doesn't bear out the conclusions made on the think progress site; but that's typical. TP is known for lying to its readers quite a bit.
Conservatives=Rabbits Liberals= Ducks In this case anyway. The Liberal starter just got owned! I'm more Libertarian but I can't see the day I'll be a lib....but who knows...
That'd be a huge leap, wouldn't it? Small government libertarian to big government liberal? Libertarians are typical more left on social policy - which, I believe, holds them back from being more main streamed. Maybe its many libertarians sole focus on social (rather than economic) issues that confuses the situation.
Yes. I'm transitioning from conservative to Libertarian because of these administrations have spoiled it for me. Libertarians are more what the Republicans/conservatives should be and were intended to be, but can't seem to be. But their social policies aren't big money give away entitlements just the opposite. Ron Paul anyone? maybe for me.....
