Assuming my keyword is "love them booties", let's also assume www.lovethembooties.com is already taken. Please pick one domain you like the most weighing SEO first and whatever else you consider important in domain names there after.
LOL~ Guys and Gals, I ain't shooting for these actual keywords here. I'm trying to find out the opinion on how people perceive domain names in terms of SEO, Branding, and anything else they might find important.
Well all 3 hyphenated domains are not that great because you might as well just send direct traffic to the other site. I am personally not a fan of the tack on of boys. You should try to think of something else.
I have 3 word keyword, I'm trying to see if adding an irrelevant word to the domain would be better than using hyphens. By the way, like most every domain out there my 3word keyword domain is already taken, hence the reason for the alternatives. I set up a poll so the people who don't wanna add comments could just pitch in with a simple vote.
The first is the biggest looser because it has another word in it (not a keyword). I personally think that the last three will all be the same in the eyes of google as - are ignored. So with the last three I would say optimize for human visitors so that it is easier to remember, probably a dash between each word makes more human sense rather than the way name 3 and 4 are set-up.
You should know well enough that you're not going to brand a keyword rich domain name these days and the domain "exact match" SEO is minimal if you can get it. Pick a very memorable brand name and go with it. Does TigerDirect.com sound very cool when referring to electronics? How about NewEgg.com? Both are not relevant at all, yet get wonderful search rankings and sales in the millions. Pick the name, buy the domain, SEO the content. Domain matching is minimal at best. In case you're doubting this wisdom, check out my experiment on the subject. CouchSquash.com has nothing to do with photography or Photoshop. Should you choose to google topics I've blogged on, you'll find I'm on Google's first page and have been since about two day's after i posted the articles. Search for "remove dark circles under the eyes", or "whiten teeth in photoshop" or anything vaugely related to my posts and you'll see me right up there. Granted, you won't find me for general search terms like Photoshop, but I didn't develop the site that way. Bottom line is that Domain Name matching accounts for so little that it shouldn't be taken into account if you're looking into building a brand image.
Go for this coz it more easy to remember compare to other. But why don't you use other extension such as .net?
DANG! This is so much more than I expected, I had no idea I was going to get so many thought out answers. I've been participating on other forums for few months now and on most of them you are lucky if you get a single reply from someone who's actually read your post and thought out what he or she was going to say. Thanks everyone, I really appreciate all your help.
Yeah, that's how I felt when I first found this forum. This forum has the most interactive, intelligent members I've seen since the old SuprNova/Snarf-it forums were shut down years ago.
