i was just curious as to how many of you that offer cheap design services have actually purchased a legit, legal copy of Adobe Photoshop. i ask this because if you have honestly spent $650 usd on software, how would you justify working for less than $10? i'm curious as to the results that this thread will bring.
because you make money using it? just like any other skilled worker. if you're a carpenter, are you going to steal a table saw or are you going to pay for it? if you're a taxi driver, are you going to shuttle people around in a stolen car? there are plenty of places that as a student you can get discounts on software but as a professional who uses software for personal monetary gain, you as a craftsman, are obligated to pay for the tools you use in your trade. just how i look at it. ansi
Photoshop is a good investment, you earn all of the money you've made through graphics design/website design gigs. (this doesn't apply to everyone however, depends on your uses for the program). I'm gladly using a legal version a parent's friend of theirs bought for me
I legally have the illegal version! meaning there is no copyright relationship between my country and US!
But if you want to fix your door you might borrow the tools from your neighbour ;-) I do agree that people who use it for profit should definately pay though and since adobe worked so hard to create photoshop, I think everyone should pay.... but that's not gonna happen (soon anyway) Just my 2 cents
It doesn't matter if you have a legal or non-legal copy, you can still offer free services. It's not a car payment.
I don't offer cheap design services, but I do want to say that Photoshop is cheaper if you are in school/work for a school. Those editions start at under $400. My PS is legit, but kinda outdated (CS1).
All those people using illegal versions. I just hope you realise that everything you create belongs to Adobe as you don't own the rights to the program. I'm not against you in anyway as I get stuff for free as well.
I do know that this thread was probably started about me where I offered free services (another member has followed). I did it mainly to gain a reputation on these forums. I didn't do it because I did or didn't buy a legal copy of PS and $650 is this outrageous price for a great piece of software. If you want to deal with this more PM me.
this thread was not started because of you. nor did i mention anything about you working for free. i simply asked how the members on here justify working for so little. i personally charge a lot more for my services as my time is more valuable and i was wondering if it was because they didn't pay for the software to begin with. i apologize if you feel that this thread was started because of you but it wasn't. perhaps it is just your guilty consience at work i do not know nor am i a psychologist.
