I've never had much luck at making money with websites. I mean I have had sites making $5 a day and could probably get $10 a day with a site if I wanted.

But for the time that is spent developing a website I don't think it's worth it. I do Web Design/Coding and make $500-$1000 a month. Some times I get payed upto $50 an hour. I only do webdesign part time aswell so I could make much more.

Money is out there. Just remember that everybody is trying to make websites that make money. Instead of becoming a website owner I spent my time becoming a website designer/creator and I now make alot of money in my spare time.

Great point. Being reasonably good at all of these seems to be the key.

Like any business venture making money online requires persistence, instinct, knowledge, dedication and a little bit of faith for the religious!

Not sure where this quote came from, but it says it all:

If you don't know how to do it all on your own - and most people don't and won't learn either - you need to be willing to spend the money to get the input from others. Of course programming knowledge isn't really necessary - but someone that works on your site should know basic HTML and preferably CSS. I would expand 'link-building' to 'promotion'. There are all kinds of ways to get (more) visitors, and search engines (which is what you need the link building for in the first place) is only one of them.

I go the free road myself, but that means putting in the hours instead of the money. That's not the best road for everyone.

Me too. But I actually enjoy these hours...it's not really work. Like I said before, as long as I'm learning something new and figuring stuff out, I'm having fun. If it ever became a step by step formula that you could follow and succeed every time I'd get bored quickly.

It's all about the game to me.

It's definitely hard work, but it beats working at a cashier in a retail store like when I did when I was 16...yikes

I would say fairly easy (for me), but if you mean on a scale of easy to hard for everyone, I'd say moderately difficult. I've seen and been around so many people that just can't get it going.

If you're an entrepreneur with a natural business sense (points to himself), it's fairly simple.

However, there's a huge difference between small timing it ($2-10k monthly) and making larger amounts (500k, $1m, $100m +).

The better you are at thinking like a businessperson, the easier it will be.

I'm 16 and it isn't as easy as people say, there is no such thing as "get rich fast". It took me some time and learning and it paid off.

You're absolutely right. It takes too much time and I got bored doing the same things over and over again. Hmm.. I might start looking for partners.

I think it is like any business venture. A reasonably good idea, persistence, and hard work usually pays off. There is competition everywhere no matter what type of business you start...that is just part of the landscape.
